myLot Topic Discussions| Do you ever feel completely incompetent? | | As I look around my house tonight, I feel like I am completely incompetent to handle my job. I cannot take care of the kids, the house, my husband, the animals, and myself. I just cant handle it. The house is always a mess. The dog poop needs scooped, the fish tank and bird cages need cleaned... I am in way over my head. Tonight I am sick and exhausted, and I know that is a big part of why I feel overwhelmed, but I just keep thinking when I had a "real" job, atleast I knew I was good at it. It may been relatively meaningless, but I was good at it. I didn't always have this doubt that I was doing everything wrong. I keep expecting things to get easier, but I just keep getting buried under more piles of laundry, and now instead of a sweet peaceful baby I have a 3 year old whos new favorite saying is "OH FU**" and a 2 year old who lives to dump red juice on my white carpet.
Guess I just needed to vent a little - I'm ready to tackle the scattered toys before bed, so I can vaccuum first thing in the morning... | |

| | Ergh....I just notice my husbands mean birds broke their cage! | | Ugh I am so tired of all these animals. Don't get me wrong they are spoiled rotten to the core and get better care than I do, but they are frustrating. We moved back in April and one of the bird cages we moved has the ability to be tall or short. We put 2 of my husbands love birds in the short cage with every intention of making it large again (the short cage is more than big enough, but we don't' want them to be cramped). After everything was unpacked, I went to make the cage large again and couldn't find the clips. By chance I found the clips Wednesday. Between Dr visits, sick kids, ect I haven't had a chance to change the cage size and figured that we could do it tomorrow since hubby will be home and well they are HIS birds. This cage happens to be right next to my computer. I look at the cage and the top is dented in. Either the birds got bored and tried to escape by breaking a plastic clip OR one of the cats sat on top of the cage and it broke (which I could happen, but I don't think it did, the cage is really sturdy). Of course, the cage is one that is not made in the US. Like most cages it is from the UK and even if I could get a replacement roof it would take... | |
| | Lucy and Ethel...Ever have a friendship like they did? | | 'I Love Lucy' is on right now. I was just wondering if you have, or ever had a friendship like those two had?I haven't. I had some real close childhood friends but we moved so that took care of that. I have a cousin I'm pretty close too, but again, we live so far apart. My sister and her daughter use to remind me of Lucy and Ethel all the time. My sister always loved animals, all animals. We got pretty heavy into parrots and birds one time. It becomes like an addiction. This fellow we knew was selling out so my sister (who simply cannot resist a finch, even if does cost $100,00 for a pair) worked something out with the fellow and then has to figure out how she's going to smuggle all these extra feathered critters into her already bird pack house. Her plan, she tells my niece, is that they will arrange the new birds in and amongst the other bird cages and behind plants and so on. If everything goes according to plan, Charlie (my brother-in-law) wont even notice, and by the time he does, she can in all honesty say 'Oh those Charlie? we've had those birds'.And then there is my niece trying to be the voice of reason like Ethel always was, 'Mama, I don't know, dad... | |
