| Squirrel and bird food/plant | | I planted between 8 and 12 sunflowers outside. I started them from seed indoor and think I transplanted them outside too early as only this one in the photo attatched grew. The others all died off. Do you get too anxious to transplant things outside for your garden?HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~ | |
| | Squirrel and bird food | | This is a shot of my sunflowers indoors. I am setting these out back when warm enough as food for the birds and squirrels and also to attract birds to watch as entertainment. I may even harvest some seeds for the grandkids. Well I'll let them do that if theres any left after the critters get their share. Do you grow sunflowers? I am not talking about FarmTown either. Hahaha!

| bird food question | | What do you feed your bird? What kind of bird do you have?
I will only be rating answers. Thank you.
| | Another waiting at a light story | | I was still working when this happened. In fact, it was in 2001, I remember because I had profound thought around the same time... another discussion...Anyway, I was sitting at this light and this BIG moth landed on my windshield. I thought - "this is a strange time of day for that moth to be out."It was trying to fly but wasn't getting very good traction and was kind of "flying" across my windshield. Then this bird came down, it had an yellow breast, but was a pretty good sized bird, it hovered over my car for a moment, then darted down and grabbed the moth and flew up to the line over head.I twisted around to look, the bird sat there - I guess it ate the bug. Now, I'm not big fan of birds, but they come ahead of bugs any day, and any bug that has the nerve to land that close to me, well, I'm happy to see it feed the birds...Not to say I haven't seen birds catch bugs before, but I had never seen this kind of bird before and never from quite this angle! You ever "catch" a bird in such an act? It was interesting. | |

| NATIVE, Wild ANIMALS and WILD BIRDS | | I'm never sure if I am right or wrong when I do this and that is I do from time to time FEED WILD NATIVE ANIMALS AND BIRDS.Now what is said to me is I should not do this as it will make them lazy and depend on me to feed them and when I stop they will starve and die..........THANKS A LOT.I do not do this because I am kind or that I am a great man, I do it because I do think from time to time they (The Native Animals) need to be topped up on food.I do not go out of my way to feed them, nor do I try to make them rely on me as their only food supply.......I give them a little and hope they think they have found it and that it did not come from man. This way they are still working to find their food.........WHAT DO YOU DO WITH FOOD AND WILD NATIVE ANIMALS????There is no right or wrong answer here, I would like to know what you do with the Wild Native Animals.HICCUP/ | |
| | What DO you do with them? | | spin off from the other discussion....okay, so we've determined that a lot of people do not like the heels on their store purchased breads....
So, you are down to the bottom of the loaf - 2 wimpy heels remain, perhaps even a little tattered from all the reaching over and around them.
What do you do with them?Do you save them till you have enough for French toast, or croutons, or bread crumbs? Do you crumble them up and feed them to the birds?Do you turn them crust side inwards and make the kid a sandwich thinking "He'll never know....."Or....Do you suffer through it and actually eat them yourself?

| Little Beastly Monster's being very destructive today here! GGGRROOOWWWLLL!!!!!! | | AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!![em]angry[/em]
I swear by all that is holy One just cannot have anything these days without some snot-nosed kid destroying it; No matter where I move too, there are kids living
there that have not been disciplined, taught to leave other people's property ALONE!!
NOTHING!!
Now don't get me wrong, I do love kids, and I do understand that kids will be kids
but there is a fine line when it comes to doing damage to other people's belongings
and that is my "gripe" right now;I've spent the last two hours or so outside at the neighbor's and their stinking
snot-nosed kids tearing up my stuff here at my place where I pay rent each month; I'm not gonna have it, I won't put up with it, and I will be reporting them tomorrow; they need to learn to leave other people's stuff ALONE...PERIOD!!! We were taught that lesson growing up, you just don't go to other people's yards
and their homes and wreak havoc...
Well this little blonde headed girl is at the top of my sh!t-list that's for sure; I've been trying to get "starts" on several bushes and have these many many sticks
around back of my place, they all wound up in...
| | how to care 4 maya birds on the ground, nest missing, so is their mother! | | my boyfriend's mom found four little Maya hatchlings on the ground! they seemed to have fallen from a window where they used to stay (we found where they stayed because it had bird poop).problem is, the nest is missing, and so is their mother. we've replaced the hatchlings where they must have originally been before they fell. but it's been an entire day and the mother maya bird hasn't come back.question 1: how do we take care of these hatchlings? do you know of any veterinarian friends? maybe they have some advise...question 2: how often do maya bird moms come back to the nest? maybe they come back like every 2 days? i just want to make sure it's safe for the little chicks to be left out there for a long time...question 3: are birds like dogs in a way that if you've touched their youngsters and your scent has rubbed off on them, the parents may no longer want their human-smelling hatchlings?i've been trying to surf on the net for info re: how to care for maya hatchlings. all i see are websites of their pictures! if you know a website that may help me, please tell me the link.let's help the poor hatchlings! | |

| Do you Feed Wild Birds even in the Summertime? | | I was out shopping with my mother yesterday and I told her I needed to buy bird food. She said "What? You don't need to feed the birds in the Summer. They can find their own food!"I said "Well the birds don't know that. The bird feeder is just as busy in the summer as it is in the winter."Am I spoiling the birds by feeding them in the summer?
Do you only feed birds in the winter?
